Jhomolhari Trek, For those who are looking for a more challenging trek, the Jhomolhari Trek to Dodena is a great option. This trek takes you through some of the most beautiful and remote areas of Bhutan, offering stunning views of the Himalayas and the Jhomolhari mountain (7,326m). The trek takes approximately 8-9 days and covers a distance of around 120km. Along the way, you will pass through traditional Bhutanese villages, high mountain passes, and pristine alpine lakes. The trek ends at Dodena, where you can visit the Cheri Monastery before returning to Paro. This trek is a great way to experience the natural beauty and cultural richness of Bhutan.
Itinerary
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by our guide and transferred to your hotel. After settling in, you will visit the National Museum of Bhutan and Paro Rinpung Dzong, a fortress-monastery that dates back to the 15th century.
Tiger’s Nest Monastery (3,120m). The hike takes approximately 5-6 hours round trip and offers stunning views of the Paro valley. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche flew to this location on the back of a tiger and meditated here for several years. The monastery is perched on a cliff and is one of the most iconic landmarks of Bhutan. After the hike, you can relax and enjoy a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath to soothe your tired muscles.
Drive to Sharna Zampa (2,870m) and trek to Thangthangkha (3,610m). The trek takes around 7-8 hours.
Trek to Jangothang (4,040m), passing through beautiful valleys and crossing the Takhung La Pass (4,520m). The trek takes around 5-6 hours.
Hike to Twin Lakes at Jangothang and enjoy the stunning views of Jhomolhari mountain.
Trek to Lingshi (4,010m), crossing the Nyile La Pass (4,890m) and passing through the Lingshi village. The trek takes around 7-8 hours.
Trek to Shodu (3,960m), passing through the Yelila Pass (4,930m).The trek takes approximately 7-8 Hours passing through high mountain passes to Zhodhu. pristine alpine lakes.
The trail follows the Thimphu Chhu through rhododendron forests, past beautiful waterfalls along the way. The valley narrows till the path takes to the slopes and gradually ascends to the ruins of Barshong Dzong.
Drive to Dodena (2,610m), to Thimphu following Wang Chhu river. The Drive takes around 2 hours. In the afternoon Transfer to Paro.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Paro International Airport for your departure flight.
